The remote and secluded Bohemian Forest has a very special charisma and charm; for a long time, the local borderland ranked among the least populated and most secluded areas in the country, partially due to its forty-year isolation from its neighbors by the Iron Curtain. On the other hand, the region around Tachov and Stříbro is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday, and a perfect destination for romantics and solitudinarians. You can walk or ride a bicycle for days through winding forests paths and among mossy boulders. Lost in the gloom and thicket of the forest, you can glimpse the remains of once prosperous villages, countryside churches and graveyards, quiet reminders of a once inhabited landscape where time stands still. There are a few places like this, with so many marks and vestiges of deserted human settlements. Some have disappeared altogether, some are being slowly rediscovered – and the search is worth it. 

• Chateau Bezdružice – a Renaissance chateau with a Museum of Glass Art, with a display of works by the greatest Czech glass artists of the late 20th century. The former chapel shows a unique glass model nativity scene by J. Rybák, another section of the castle serves as a memorial of the Renaissance nobleman, soldier, writer and composer Kryštof Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice.
• Bohemian Forest – protected landscape area situated along the borderland mountain range from Broumov in the Tachov Region to the Domažlice Pass. Preserved beechwood forests and peat bogs, meadows and pastures abounding in flowers, magical mystery of disappeared villages, many hiking and cycling trails, excellent conditions for cross-country skiing.
• Kladruby u Stříbra – a Benedictine monastery established in 1115, rebuilt by the famous architect Santini in the Baroque-Gothic style. Several guided tours, the Church of the Assumption, a collection of Baroque sculptures by M.B. Braun.
• Gutštejn Castle – a picturesque ruin of a 13th century Gothic castle, for many years the property of the Lords of Gutštejn, one of the oldest Czech aristocratic families.
• Chodová Planá – the Chodovar family brewery, The True Beer Spa, the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic.
• Konstantinovy Lázně – a spa town with mineral springs in one of the environmentally cleanest areas of the Czech Republic. The first records of the local sulfurous springs date back to the 16th century.
• Lazurová hora – a hill (650 meters) in Chodová Planá above the valley of the Blackbird Stream. Preserved galleries and adits left after silver mining, including the Marble Cave, the ruins of a medieval castle, and the nature trail of the Blackbird Stream.
• Prostiboř – a medieval castle rebuilt into a three-wing chateau; deserted in 1945, today a ruin. The nearby village contains a museum of historical vehicles and agricultural equipment.
• Přimda Castle – ruins of a Romanesque sentry castle on the top of the hill above the town of Přimda (842 meters). Probably the second oldest stone castle in Bohemia after Prague Castle.
• Stříbro – a mining town with a Renaissance town hall, remains of the medieval fortifications and a Gothic bridge over the Mže River. The Municipal Museum in the Minorite monastery, an educational trail around the town, depicting the history of mining in the Stříbro region.
• Tachov – the historic centre of the town established by King Ottokar II, preserved medieval fortifications. The Bohemian Forest Museum in the premises of the former Franciscan monastery.
• Vysoká – a Hussite memorial of the famous battle of Tachov in 1427 in which the Hussites defeated the crusading armies.
