Central Moravia – Haná

Historic squares and a cathedral; a unique collection of fountains; a Baroque Plague Column, registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List; 18th-century fortifications; and famous floral exhibitions: These are the attractions offered by the beautiful city of Olomouc. However, the palaces and museums of the city should not detract us from visiting other towns and villages in the city’s environs.

Visit the town of Prostějov, with unique buildings in pure Art Nouveau style; and Litovel, also known as the Venice of Moravia, famous for its excellent beer. Surprises await you at every step, considering the vast number of sacral monuments, museums, mills, castles and châteaux the region has to offer. The region’s cultural heritage is beautifully complemented by its natural beauties, ideal for hiking, biking or canoeing. Add to this the traditional local hospitality, delicious wines from the Archbishop’s cellars, and the unique Olomouc curd cheese, and the attractions of the region will be truly impossible to resist.
