Moravian Karst and Surrounding Area

Stalactite caves hidden below ground in one of central Europe most significant karst areas attract thousands of visitors every year. Punkevní cave (including a trip along the subterranean Punkva River), Balcarka, Kateřinská, Výpustek and Sloupsko-šošůvské caves are all open to the public. The launch pad for the central area is Skalní Mlýn, with an environmentally friendly electric train taking visitors to the Punkevní caves. A cable car climbs to the Macocha Abyss.

In the Josefov Valley and at the Renaissance chateau in Blansko you can discover the fascinating history of the local ironworks and find out just what can be made from seemingly ordinary iron. Period architecture fans can look forward to chateaux in Lysice, Kunštát, Letovice and Rájec nad Svitavou, beautiful Baroque pilgrimage churches by famous architects in Křtiny and Sloup, a series of modern churches and chapels and the precious Altar of Light in the neo-Gothic Church of St Barbora in Adamov.
