How is beer brewed? Take a look behind the scenes

Breweries in the Czech Republic are open to all who want to learn more about brewing the golden beverage. Many organise tours in which people may take a look directly behind the scenes and, of course, have a taste of what’s being brewed.

You can learn more about beer, for example, at the brewery in Český Krumlov, in Velké Popovice, which offers tours not only for adults but also for minors, or at the chateaux brewery in Dětenice. There you will also see a facility where beer has been brewed to this day using a time-honoured method (done over an open fire) that is over 300 hundred years old and have a look through the original, local brewing museum.

Given Pilsner beer’s world-wide fame, it would be a sin to skip Plzeň on your beer tour. At the local brewery, you will enjoy a tour around the brewery as well as a visit to the Brewery Museum. Inside the museum is an alluring exhibition in which you will find yourself, for example, in a historic pub and a brewery laboratory.

Our tip: Brew your own beer

At the Moritz brewery in Olomouc, not only will they let you see how their beer is produced, they’ll even teach you to brew your own batch. All you have to do is take part in the one-day course that is offered there.

Enjoy a beer bath

What is another way to enjoy beer in the Czech Republic? At a beer spa, of course! You will find one at the Chodovar family brewery in Chodová Planá in West Bohemia, which boasts being the first and largest beer spa in the world. There you will be treated with therapeutic procedures including hot baths in carbonated mineral water with special beer, malt draff remedial packs, massages, and drinking cures and.
